The Centre québécois d'innovation en biotechnologie (CQIB) is committed to protecting the personal information of its members, partners, employees, and other stakeholders. In accordance with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), this policy outlines CQIB’s practices concerning the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information. CQIB collects only the personal information necessary for specific, legitimate purposes. Examples of collected information and the technologies used include:

  • Types of Information: names, email addresses, phone numbers, etc.

  • Technologies Used: online forms, cookies, surveillance cameras, etc. This information is collected for purposes such as:

  • Membership management.

  • Event management.

  • Partnership and collaboration management.

  • Employee management.

  • Service delivery and support for biotechnology projects and other CQIB activities.

  • Ensuring the safety of staff and clients.

  • Communication and promotional offers and events.

3. Use of Personal Information

Personal information is used solely for the purposes for which it was collected, unless consent for another use is obtained from the individual or required by law. Strict access controls and regular staff training are implemented to ensure this exclusive use.

CQIB discloses personal information to third parties only under the following circumstances:

  • When necessary for service delivery.

  • Right of Access: Individuals can request access to their personal information held by CQIB.

  • Right of Rectification: Individuals can request correction of their personal information if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

  • Right to Erasure: Individuals can request deletion of their personal information under certain conditions.

  • Right to Data Portability: Individuals can request that their personal information be transferred to another organization. To exercise these rights, individuals can submit a request through the provided contact details and can expect a response within the legal timeframe.

7. Breach Notification

In the event of a personal information security breach, CQIB will notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the affected individuals as soon as possible, in compliance with Law 25 requirements. Corrective measures will be taken to address the vulnerability and support affected individuals.

8. Policy Changes

CQIB reserves the right to modify this policy periodically to reflect legislative, regulatory, or operational changes. Modifications will be posted on our website www.cqib.org, and stakeholders will be informed of significant changes with reasonable notice, allowing them to ask questions or provide feedback.
